According to Centers For Diseases Control and Prevention(CDC), 29.1 million Americans have diabetes, out of which 8.1 million are undiagnosed. 

Theoretically, it can be said that more than one in four, who have diabetes are not aware of it.  

And about half a million die every year from this disease, holding the seventh leading cause of death in the united states.

The good news about  diabetes  is that it can be taken down close to normal as possible with the right food choices, and healthy lifestyle.

Another way of managing your diabetes is by reducing cardiovascular diseases risk factors such as high blood pressure, high lipid levels, and tobacco use. 

As a child, you are under the supervision of your parents, but gradually as you shift to your adulthood you are on your own.

Many young people are facing a lot of challenges in managing their diabetic condition.  

The habit that you develop from your childhood is very hard to change, so both the children and adult alike should be given an emotional and intellectual support to control their sugar blood level.

Type 2 diabetes is usually caused by consuming unhealthy food. Just like a car, when filled with bad fuel it gets deteriorates quicker, as the engine has less tolerance for the bad fuel or gas.

So also our body, if you fill unhealthy food into your stomach, then your body will be weakened and it will not be able to function well when you grow older.

Think your body as one of the expensive sports cars and give a thought about the food while putting in your mouth, then your body will able to function well in the long run.

Many people don’t realize which food raises their blood sugar; they often think the problem is only sugar. The kind of the sugar they put in the coffee or tea.

However, the main problem lies within the food which has high carbohydrate or starchy.

If you are diagnosed with diabetes, then you may want to start reducing the intake of these foods. By limiting this food, you will get a bonus point for your health quest.

Your blood glucose level will come down and  will help you to lose your weight immensely.

It is highly advisable to reduce the intake of carbohydrate, as carbohydrate or starchy food has the highest effect on the sugar blood level because when they are digested or broken down they turn into glucose.

It doesn’t mean that you have to totally give up the food that contains carbohydrate entirely.

Carbohydrates are an important source of energy. It’s important to keep the balanced diet. A healthy diet should also include carbohydrate, fats, and protein.

However, you should be aware that carbohydrate has a big impact on your blood glucose levels. You have to be smart while choosing the types of carbs you’re eating.

If you get the glucose from a fresh fruit or vegetables, then you will get the right amount of insulin at the right time.

But if you consume foods that are high in starch, then, you get more glucose into your blood stream and your body gets more insulin than your body required, causing your blood sugar level to go higher.

The foods that contain high carbohydrate or starchy foods are-

Potatoes, rice, noodles, yam, dried beans, lentils, peas,  split peas, kidney beans, and plantain etc.

As each individual dietary need is different you need to consult with your doctor before you make any changes to your diet.
